I’m a beginner in MEAN stack application development and stuck with this error. Please help me. Thanks in advance

Max Payne

Remove spaces from the game folder’s name, e.g. change "SteamAppsCommonMax Payne" to "SteamAppsCommonMaxPayne"

After you do that, edit the appmanifest file (..SteamAppsappmanifest_12140.acf) and change the text after "installdir" to the new name. (e.g. "Max Payne" to "MaxPayne").

Restart Steam and the error should be fixed. It worked for me on Win 8.1 after I set the game to run in 98/ME compatibility mode. It also appears to fix Max Payne 2, I renamed that folder to "MaxPayne2"

Thanks for this fix, but it would appear that once you change the folder name Steam doesn’t know where to look to launch the game. I get the error "Missing Executable". I’m assuming that I have to change the launch location of the game. Did anyone else get this error or was it just me?

***Edit: It turns out that my appmanifest file was not saving everytime I edited it. So after a few tries and fails I got it to save. No idea what was giving me trouble with it, but it finally worked when I kept the file open, saved it, and restarted Steam to "keep an eye on it" to make sure it didn’t change itself. Thanks for the fix 🙂 ***

I seem to be having the same problem at the moment, however mine will not save at all. any ideas on what I am doing wrong?

It seems that everytime Steam reboots it overwrites the lines that I have changed :/ grr I just want to get my game working :/
